Polyether and Cork: Two Different Comfort-Footwear Directions

A buyer-friendly guide to appearance, resilience, climate use and product positioning.

Comfort footwear is often grouped by silhouette, but the material system underneath the foot can change weight, resilience, styling and the way a collection is positioned.

Start with the market promise

Cork-led constructions communicate a natural heritage story. Molded polyether-based cushioning supports a lighter, more flexible and contemporary direction. The right choice depends on your customer, price architecture and climate rather than appearance alone.

Specify the complete construction

Ask suppliers to separate footbed, midsole and outsole materials in the specification. Density, rebound, surface finish, traction pattern and bonding method should be agreed during sampling.

Validate before production

Approve a physical sample, fitting notes, color standard and test requirements before bulk production. SHARK can adapt material packages by model and target market during development.
